Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and secure it with wheel chocks.
  • Disconnect the battery for safety.
2. Inspect and Replace Gaskets/Seals
  • Valve Cover Gasket Replacement:

    • Remove the retaining bolts and lift the valve cover.
    • Clean the mating surfaces of the engine and valve cover.
    • Place a new gasket on the valve cover and reattach it with new bolts, torquing to manufacturer specifications.
  • Oil Pan Gasket Replacement:

    • Drain the engine oil using an oil catch pan.
    • Remove the oil pan bolts and gently pry the oil pan off.
    • Clean the oil pan and engine block surfaces.
    • Apply a new gasket and reattach the oil pan, ensuring bolts are torqued correctly.
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • Remove the old oil filter using an oil filter wrench.
  • Install a new oil filter, applying a small amount of oil to the rubber gasket for a proper seal.
4. Refill Engine Oil
  • Refill the engine with the appropriate type and amount of oil as specified in the owner's manual.
  • Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes, checking for leaks.
