Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues during repair.
2. Locate the Leak Source
  • Clean the engine area with engine degreaser to remove existing oil residue.
  • Use a UV dye in the oil system and run the engine for a short period.
  • Use a UV light to trace the source of the leak.
3. Replace Leaking Gaskets/Seals
  • Valve Cover Gasket:

    • Remove any components obstructing access to the valve cover.
    • Unscrew the valve cover bolts and carefully lift the cover.
    • Remove the old gasket and clean the surfaces.
    • Apply a new valve cover gasket and reassemble the cover, tightening bolts to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
  • Oil Pan Gasket:

    • Drain the engine oil and remove the oil pan bolts.
    • Gently tap the oil pan to break the seal and remove it.
    • Clean the oil pan and engine block mating surfaces.
    • Install a new oil pan gasket and reattach the oil pan with the specified torque.
4. Replace Oil Filter and Add New Oil
  • Remove the old oil filter using an oil filter wrench.
  • Apply a light coat of new oil to the rubber gasket of the new filter.
  • Install the new oil filter and tighten it securely.
  • Refill the engine with the recommended grade and type of oil.
5. Test for Leaks
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
  • Check for any signs of oil leaks around the replaced gaskets and oil filter.
  • Monitor the oil level and ensure it remains stable.
