Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: oil filter wrench, socket set, oil catch pan, funnel, and clean rags.
  • Ensure the engine is cool, and the vehicle is parked on a level surface.
2. Check Oil Level and Condition
  • Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag.
  • Reinsert the dipstick, then remove it again to check the oil level.
  • If the oil is low, proceed to the next step.
3. Change Engine Oil
  • Drain Old Oil:
    • Place the oil catch pan under the oil pan.
    • Remove the drain plug using the socket set; allow the old oil to drain completely.
  • Replace Oil Filter:
    • Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
    • Lubricate the rubber O-ring of the new oil filter with a small amount of new oil.
    • Install the new oil filter, hand-tighten it according to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Add New Oil:
    • Reinstall the drain plug and tighten to the specified torque (usually around 30 ft-lbs).
    • Using a funnel, add the appropriate type and amount of new oil (typically 0W-20 for the Honda Accord).
4. Clean Up
  • Wipe any spillage and ensure the area is clean.
  • Dispose of the old oil and filter according to local regulations.
5. Reset the Oil Light
  • Turn on the ignition without starting the engine.
  • Press the gas pedal three times within 10 seconds.
  • The oil light should turn off.
