Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, socket set, wrench set, torque wrench, spring compressor (if necessary), and a flathead screwdriver.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to avoid any electrical issues.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle as needed.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to ensure safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Using a socket set, remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel to access the shock absorbers.
4. Disconnect the Shock Absorber
  • Front Shocks:
    • Remove any clips or covers that obstruct access to the shock bolts.
    • Unbolt the top mounting nut using a socket and wrench.
    • Remove the lower mounting bolts from the control arm.
  • Rear Shocks:
    • Unbolt the top mount inside the trunk or under the rear seat.
    • Remove the lower bolt connecting the shock to the rear axle.
5. Install New Shock Absorbers
  • Position the new shock absorber into place.
  • For front shocks, align the bottom bolt with the control arm and tighten it. Then, secure the top mount with the nut.
  • For rear shocks, secure the top mount first, followed by the lower bolt to the axle.
6. Reassemble and Lower the Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle from the jack stands and then fully tighten the lug nuts in a crisscross pattern to the manufacturer’s torque specification.
7. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the battery.
  • Inspect for any loose tools or parts before driving.
