Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
  • Raise the vehicle and support it securely with jack stands.
2. Remove the Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Use a socket set to remove any bolts securing the engine cover.
  • Carefully lift off the cover and set it aside.
3. Disconnect the Starter Wiring
  • Locate the starter on the engine, typically found near the transmission.
  • Disconnect the electrical connectors from the starter solenoid.
  • Remove the nut securing the battery cable to the starter using a wrench.
4. Remove the Starter
  • Locate and remove the bolts securing the starter to the engine block using a socket and ratchet.
  • Carefully pull the starter out of its mounting position.
5. Install the New Starter
  • Position the new starter in place and align it with the mounting holes.
  • Hand-tighten the bolts to secure the starter, then torque them to the manufacturer specifications (typically around 35-40 ft-lbs).
  • Reconnect the battery cable and the electrical connectors to the starter solenoid.
6. Reinstall Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Place the engine cover back onto the engine and secure it with bolts.
7. Reconnect the Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tight.
