Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the replacement.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool if it has been running.
2. Remove the Old MAF Sensor
  • Tools Required: Torx screwdriver, flathead screwdriver, socket set
  • Locate the MAF sensor on the air intake duct, between the air filter and the throttle body.
  • Disconnect the electrical connector by pressing the release tab and gently pulling it away.
  • Unscrew the MAF sensor using the appropriate Torx screwdriver (usually T20).
  • Carefully remove the sensor from the air intake duct.
3. Install the New MAF Sensor
  • Parts Required: New mass airflow sensor
  • Clean the mounting area of the air intake duct with a clean cloth to remove any debris.
  • Install the new MAF sensor in the same orientation as the old one.
  • Secure it with the screws removed earlier, tightening them to the manufacturer’s torque specification (usually around 10-15 in-lbs).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector until it clicks into place.
4. Reconnect Battery and Final Checks
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes to check for proper operation.
  • Monitor for any warning lights and ensure the engine runs smoothly.
