Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket (usually 5/8-inch), ratchet, gap gauge, dielectric grease.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting the procedure.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate the screws or bolts securing the engine cover.
    2. Use the appropriate socket to remove the screws/bolts.
    3. Gently lift the cover off and set it aside to expose the spark plugs.
3. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Disconnect the ignition coil connectors by pressing down on the tab and pulling them off.
    2. Remove the bolts securing each ignition coil using the socket set.
    3. Pull out the ignition coils to expose the spark plugs.
    4. Use the spark plug socket and ratchet to carefully unscrew each spark plug. Turn counterclockwise until they are free.
    5. Inspect removed spark plugs for wear or damage.
4. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Check and adjust the gap on the new spark plugs to manufacturer's specifications (typically 0.043 inches for Honda Accord).
    2. Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the threads of the new spark plugs.
    3. Carefully thread the new spark plugs into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading.
    4. Use the torque wrench to tighten the spark plugs to the specified torque (usually around 13 lb-ft).
    5. Reinstall the ignition coils in the reverse order of removal and secure them with bolts.
5. Reinstall Engine Cover
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Place the engine cover back on the engine.
    2. Secure it with the screws or bolts removed earlier.
    3. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
