Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: OBD-II scanner, socket set, torque wrench, oxygen sensor socket, multimeter, safety goggles, gloves.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely.
2. Locate the Oxygen Sensor
  • Identify the oxygen sensor location: The 10th generation Honda Accord typically has two sensors, one upstream (pre-catalytic converter) and one downstream (post-catalytic converter).
  • Raise the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands if necessary.
3. Remove the Old Oxygen Sensor
  • For Upstream Sensor:
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector by pressing the tab and pulling it apart.
    2. Use an oxygen sensor socket to unscrew the sensor from the exhaust manifold.
  • For Downstream Sensor:
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector similarly.
    2. Unscrew the sensor using the oxygen sensor socket.
4. Install the New Oxygen Sensor
  1. Apply anti-seize compound (if not pre-applied) to the threads of the new oxygen sensor.
  2. Screw the new sensor into place and tighten it to the manufacturer's specification (typically about 30 lb-ft).
  3. Reconnect the electrical connector securely to the new sensor.
5. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the battery terminals.
  • Start the engine and let it warm up to operating temperature.
