Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Brake fluid (DOT 3 or DOT 4), turkey baster or suction pump, brake bleeder kit, wrench (usually 10mm), clear tubing, gloves, safety glasses.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Gather all necessary tools and materials.
2. Remove Old Brake Fluid
  • Use the turkey baster or suction pump to remove the old brake fluid from the reservoir. Dispose of the old fluid properly.
  • Wipe the reservoir cap and surrounding area to prevent contamination.
3. Add New Brake Fluid
  • Fill the brake fluid reservoir with new DOT 3 or DOT 4 brake fluid to the maximum mark. Do not overfill.
  • Ensure that the cap is secured tightly after filling.
4. Bleed the Brake System
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Start at the wheel farthest from the master cylinder (usually the rear passenger side).
    2. Attach the clear tubing to the bleeder valve on the brake caliper.
    3. Place the other end of the tubing into a container to catch the old fluid.
    4. Have an assistant pump the brake pedal several times and hold it down.
    5. Open the bleeder valve with the wrench to release air and old fluid. Close the valve when fluid starts to flow.
    6. Repeat the process until clear, bubble-free fluid is observed.
    7. Move to the next wheel (rear driver side, then front passenger side, and finally front driver side) and repeat bleeding for each.
5. Final Checks
  • After bleeding all brakes, check the fluid level in the reservoir again and top off if necessary.
  • Ensure all bleeder valves are closed and the wheels are securely installed.
