Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely before starting work.
  • Wear safety gloves and goggles.
2. Drain Old Coolant
  • Tools Required: Drain pan, socket set.
  • Locate the radiator drain plug at the bottom of the radiator.
  • Place the drain pan under the radiator and open the drain plug to allow old coolant to flow out.
  • Remove the radiator cap to facilitate drainage.
  • Allow the coolant to drain completely, then close the drain plug and tighten it securely.
3. Flush the System
  • Tools Required: Hose with running water, funnel.
  • Disconnect the upper radiator hose from the radiator.
  • Insert a garden hose into the radiator neck or upper hose with a funnel.
  • Turn on the water to flush the system, allowing water to run through until it flows clear from the upper hose.
  • Reconnect the upper radiator hose securely.
4. Refill with New Coolant
  • Parts Required: New coolant (Honda Genuine Type 2 or equivalent).
  • Prepare a 50/50 mixture of coolant and distilled water.
  • Using a funnel, pour the new coolant mixture into the radiator until full.
  • Fill the reservoir to the appropriate level.
5. Bleed the Cooling System
  • Start the engine and let it idle with the heater set to maximum.
  • Monitor the temperature gauge and check for air bubbles in the radiator.
  • Continue to add coolant as needed until no more air bubbles appear and the coolant level stabilizes.
  • Once complete, turn off the engine and allow it to cool.
6. Final Checks
  • Tools Required: Torque wrench (if needed).
  • Inspect all connections for leaks.
  • Recheck coolant levels in the radiator and reservoir after the engine has cooled.
