Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the steering system.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front of the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
  • Ensure the vehicle is stable before proceeding.
3. Remove Components
  • Control Arm Removal:
    • Remove the wheel on the side where bushings are being replaced using a socket set.
    • Disconnect the ball joint from the control arm by removing the nut and using a ball joint separator.
    • Remove bolts securing the control arm to the chassis and lower it to access the bushings.
4. Replace Bushings
  • Bushing Replacement:
    • Use a bushing press or a suitable tool to remove the old bushings from the control arm.
    • Clean the control arm surfaces where the new bushings will be installed.
    • Apply a lubricant to the new bushings and press them into the control arm using the bushing press.
5. Reassemble Components
  • Reinstall the control arm back in its original position.
  • Secure it with the bolts and torque them to the manufacturer's specifications (usually around 50-70 ft-lbs, check specific values for your model).
  • Reconnect the ball joint and secure the nut to the manufacturer’s torque specification.
6. Lower the Vehicle and Test
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and reinstall the wheel.
  • Connect the battery and perform a steering system test.
