Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, brake fluid, brake cleaner, torque wrench, OBD-II scanner, caliper tool (if replacing pads).
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface, and the ignition is turned off. Disconnect the battery if necessary.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Loosen the lug nuts while the vehicle is on the ground.
    2. Use a jack to lift the vehicle and secure it with jack stands.
    3. Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Remove the caliper by unscrewing the caliper bolts.
    2. Slide the caliper off the rotor and support it with a wire hanger to avoid strain on the brake line.
    3. Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
    4. Inspect the rotor for scoring or warping; replace if necessary.
    5. Apply brake grease to the back of the new brake pads and install them into the caliper bracket.
    6. Reinstall the caliper over the new pads and torque the caliper bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
4. Reassemble and Test
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
    2. Lower the vehicle and then torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
    3. Reconnect the battery if it was disconnected.
    4. Pump the brake pedal a few times to seat the brake pads.
