Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Safety goggles
    • Fuel line disconnect tool
    • Socket set
    • Torque wrench
    • Cleaning solution (fuel injector cleaner or ultrasonic cleaner)
    • Soft cloth
  • Ensure the engine is off and cool, and disconnect the battery.
2. Remove Fuel Injectors
  1. Relieve fuel system pressure by removing the fuel pump relay and starting the engine until it stalls.
  2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  3. Remove the engine cover (if applicable) using the socket set.
  4. Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel rail using the fuel line disconnect tool.
  5. Unplug the electrical connectors from each fuel injector.
  6. Unbolt the fuel rail from the intake manifold using a socket set.
  7. Carefully remove the fuel injectors from the fuel rail.
3. Clean Fuel Injectors
  1. If using a cleaning solution, immerse the injectors in a fuel injector cleaning solvent according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. For ultrasonic cleaning, place the injectors in the ultrasonic cleaner filled with the appropriate cleaning solution and run the cleaner for the recommended duration.
  3. After cleaning, wipe the injectors with a soft cloth to remove any residual cleaner.
  4. Inspect the O-rings on the injectors; replace them if they appear worn or damaged.
4. Reinstall Fuel Injectors
  1. Apply a small amount of engine oil to the O-rings of the fuel injectors to ensure a good seal.
  2. Insert the fuel injectors back into the fuel rail, ensuring they are seated properly.
  3. Reattach the fuel rail to the intake manifold and torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
  4. Reconnect the electrical connectors to each fuel injector.
  5. Reattach the fuel lines and ensure they are secured.
  6. Reconnect the battery cable.
5. Final Steps
  1. Replace the fuel pump relay.
  2. Turn the ignition key to the "ON" position for a few seconds to prime the fuel system, then check for leaks around the injectors.
  3. Start the engine and allow it to idle, checking for any abnormal sounds or leaks.
