Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, ratchet, feeler gauge, dielectric grease
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting the procedure.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Locate and remove any screws or bolts securing the engine cover.
  • Gently lift the cover off to expose the spark plug area.
3. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Tools Required: Spark plug socket and ratchet
  • Disconnect the ignition coil connector for each spark plug.
  • Remove the ignition coil by unscrewing the bolts and gently pulling it out.
  • Use the spark plug socket and ratchet to unscrew the old spark plugs, turning counterclockwise.
4. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Parts Required: New spark plugs (ensure they are the correct type and gap for your model)
  • Check the gap on the new spark plugs with a feeler gauge, adjusting if necessary.
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs (optional).
  • Carefully thread the new spark plugs in by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten with a torque wrench to the manufacturer’s specification (typically around 13 lb-ft).
5. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the inside of the ignition coil boot to facilitate easy installation.
  • Reinsert the ignition coils over the new spark plugs and secure them with bolts.
  • Reconnect the ignition coil connectors.
6. Replace Engine Cover
  • Position the engine cover back in place and secure it with the previously removed screws or bolts.
7. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tight.
