Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all required tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
  • Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands for safety.
2. Drain Old Oil
  • Tools Required: Socket set, oil catch pan, funnel.
  • Locate the oil drain plug underneath the vehicle.
  • Using the socket set, loosen and remove the drain plug, allowing the old oil to fully drain into the catch pan.
  • Once drained, replace the drain plug and tighten it to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically around 25 ft-lbs).
3. Replace Oil Filter
  • Tools Required: Oil filter wrench.
  • Locate the oil filter (usually near the oil pan).
  • Use the oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter. Be cautious of residual oil that may spill out.
  • Before installing the new filter, apply a small amount of new oil to the rubber gasket on the new filter.
  • Screw in the new oil filter by hand until snug, then tighten it an additional ¾ turn.
4. Add New Oil
  • Tools Required: Funnel.
  • Remove the oil filler cap on top of the engine.
  • Using the funnel, pour in the recommended amount of new oil (typically 4.5 quarts for 2.4L engine; check owner's manual for exact capacity).
  • Replace the oil filler cap securely.
5. Run Engine and Check for Leaks
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes.
  • Check under the vehicle for any signs of leaks from the drain plug or oil filter.
  • Turn off the engine and wait a few minutes, then check the oil level again using the dipstick. Add oil if necessary.
