Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, ratchet, spark plug socket, torque wrench, extension bar, dielectric grease.
  • Parts Required: New spark plugs (check specifications for correct type), possibly new spark plug wires or coils if damaged.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal using a wrench.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • If equipped, remove any screws or clips holding the engine cover in place.
  • Carefully lift the cover off and set it aside.
3. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Locate the spark plug wires or ignition coils on top of the spark plugs.
  • If using wires, gently pull them off the spark plugs; label them if necessary to ensure correct reinstallation.
  • For ignition coils, remove the bolts holding the coils in place and disconnect the electrical connectors.
  • Use the spark plug socket and ratchet to carefully unscrew and remove each old spark plug. Turn counterclockwise until they are free.
4. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the threads of the new spark plugs to ensure easy removal in the future.
  • Hand-tighten each new spark plug into the cylinder head, then use the torque wrench to tighten them to the manufacturer's specification (typically around 13-16 lb-ft).
5. Reinstall Ignition Coils or Wires
  • If using ignition coils, reconnect the electrical connectors and secure them with the bolts.
  • If using spark plug wires, reconnect them ensuring they are seated properly over the new plugs.
6. Reassemble Engine Cover
  • Place the engine cover back on and secure it with screws or clips as necessary.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
