Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, jack and jack stands, strut spring compressor, screwdriver set.
  • Secure the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery negative terminal to prevent electrical issues.
2. Remove the Old Struts
  1. Lift the Vehicle:

    • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle.
    • Secure with jack stands.
  2. Remove the Wheel:

    • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
  3. Disconnect the Strut:

    • Remove the lower strut bolt using a socket wrench.
    • Remove any additional brackets or components connected to the strut.
  4. Access the Strut Top Mount:

    • Open the hood and locate the strut top mount (usually in the engine bay).
    • Remove the nuts securing the top mount using a socket set.
  5. Extract the Strut Assembly:

    • Carefully pull the strut out of the wheel well without damaging surrounding components.
3. Install New Struts
  1. Prepare New Struts:

    • If applicable, use a strut spring compressor to install new springs on the new struts.
    • Ensure all components are aligned properly.
  2. Insert New Strut:

    • Position the new strut into place in the wheel well.
    • Secure the upper mount using the nuts removed earlier, tightening to manufacturer specifications.
  3. Reattach the Lower Strut Bolt:

    • Insert and tighten the lower strut bolt to the specified torque value.
  4. Reinstall the Wheel:

    • Place the wheel back onto the hub and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  5. Lower the Vehicle:

    • Remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle to the ground.
4. Final Checks
  • Tighten the lug nuts in a criss-cross pattern to ensure even pressure.
  • Reconnect the battery negative terminal.
