Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts: OBD-II scanner, socket set, transmission fluid, funnel, torque wrench, and replacement parts if necessary.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and set the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the vehicle.
2. Check Transmission Fluid
  • Locate the transmission dipstick (if equipped) or access the fluid fill plug.
  • Remove the dipstick or fill plug and wipe it clean.
  • Reinsert and remove to check the fluid level; add fluid if low.
  • If the fluid is dark or has a burnt smell, proceed to change it.
3. Change Transmission Fluid
  • Place a drain pan under the transmission pan.
  • Remove the bolts securing the transmission pan using a socket set.
  • Gently pry the pan loose and allow the old fluid to drain completely.
  • Clean the pan and magnet (if equipped) of any debris before reassembly.
  • Replace the transmission filter if applicable.
  • Reinstall the pan with a new gasket and torque bolts to manufacturer specifications.
4. Inspect and Replace Transmission Control Module (if necessary)
  • Remove any covers obstructing access to the TCM.
  • Unplug the electrical connector and remove the TCM from its mounting.
  • Replace with a new or refurbished TCM.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector and reinstall any covers.
5. Reconnect Battery and Test
  • Reconnect the battery terminal securely.
  • Start the engine and allow it to warm up.
  • Test the transmission engagement by shifting through all gears.
