Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to ensure safety.
  • Allow the engine to cool down before starting any work.
2. Clean or Replace the Idle Air Control Valve (IACV)
  • Remove the IACV:
    • Locate the IACV on the throttle body.
    • Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the mounting bolts.
  • Clean the IACV (if not replacing):
    • Use throttle body cleaner and a soft brush to remove carbon buildup.
    • Allow it to dry completely before reinstalling.
  • Install the IACV:
    • Position the IACV back onto the throttle body, secure it with bolts, and reconnect the electrical connector.
3. Clean the Throttle Body
  • Remove the Throttle Body:
    • Disconnect any electrical connections and vacuum hoses attached to the throttle body.
    • Remove the mounting bolts and carefully take off the throttle body.
  • Clean the Throttle Body:
    • Use throttle body cleaner and a clean cloth to wipe away carbon deposits inside the throttle body.
    • Ensure the throttle plate moves freely.
  • Reinstall the Throttle Body:
    • Secure the throttle body in place with mounting bolts and reconnect all hoses and connectors.
4. Test and Replace Fuel Pump (if necessary)
  • Test Fuel Pressure:
    • Connect a fuel pressure gauge to the fuel rail.
    • Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start) and check the pressure reading.
  • Replace Fuel Pump (if pressure is below specifications):
    • Disconnect the battery and relieve fuel pressure.
    • Remove the fuel tank and replace the fuel pump assembly.
    • Reinstall the tank, reconnect the battery, and check for leaks.
