Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Screwdriver set
    • Throttle body cleaner
    • Clean microfiber cloths
    • Safety glasses
    • Gloves
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical shorts or issues.
2. Remove Air Intake Duct
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Locate the air intake duct connecting the air filter box to the throttle body.
    2. Use a socket or screwdriver to loosen the clamps securing the duct.
    3. Carefully detach the duct and set it aside.
3. Remove Throttle Body
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the throttle body by pressing the release tab.
    2. Remove the bolts securing the throttle body using the socket set.
    3. Gently pull the throttle body away from the intake manifold, taking care not to damage the gasket.
4. Clean the Throttle Body
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Spray throttle body cleaner onto a clean microfiber cloth or directly into the throttle body.
    2. Use the cloth to wipe away carbon buildup and dirt from the throttle plate and inside the throttle body.
    3. Move the throttle plate manually (if applicable) to clean all accessible areas.
    4. Ensure no cleaner is left inside the throttle body before reinstallation.
5. Reinstall Throttle Body
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Place a new gasket onto the intake manifold if necessary.
    2. Position the throttle body back onto the manifold and hand-tighten the bolts.
    3. Torque the throttle body bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications (typically around 16 lb-ft).
    4. Reconnect the electrical connector.
6. Reattach Air Intake Duct
  • Sub-steps:
    1. Reconnect the air intake duct to the throttle body.
    2. Tighten the clamps securely to avoid air leaks.
7. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
