Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Clean rag or paper towel, funnel (if adding fluid).
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the vehicle is in 'Park' with the parking brake engaged. Wear gloves to protect your hands.
2. Check Fluid Level
  • Step 1: Start the engine and let it run until it reaches normal operating temperature (about 10 minutes).
  • Step 2: With the engine running, shift through all gears (from 'Park' to 'Drive' and back) to circulate the fluid.
  • Step 3: Return the gear lever to 'Park'.
  • Step 4: Pull out the transmission dipstick, wipe it clean with a rag, and reinsert it fully into the tube.
  • Step 5: Remove the dipstick again and check the fluid level against the marks on the dipstick. The fluid should be within the 'Full' and 'Add' marks.
3. Add Fluid if Necessary
  • Step 1: If the fluid is below the 'Add' mark, use a funnel to add the correct Honda transmission fluid (typically ATF DW-1) through the dipstick tube.
  • Step 2: Add small amounts at a time (about ½ quart), recheck the level after each addition until it reaches the optimal level.
  • Step 3: Once the proper level is achieved, securely replace the dipstick.
