Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and materials.
  • Tools Required: Funnel, clean rag, 10mm socket or wrench (for drain plug), and transmission fluid that meets Honda specifications (typically Honda ATF DW-1).
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the vehicle is on a level surface and the engine is cool before proceeding.
2. Drain the Transmission Fluid (if necessary)
  • Locate the drain plug on the transmission pan under the vehicle.
  • Using a 10mm socket or wrench, loosen and remove the drain plug.
  • Allow the old fluid to completely drain into a catch pan.
  • Replace the drain plug and torque it to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually 33 lb-ft).
3. Refill Transmission Fluid
  • Locate the transmission dipstick tube.
  • Insert a funnel into the dipstick tube.
  • Pour the recommended Honda ATF DW-1 fluid into the funnel slowly.
  • Add fluid until the dipstick indicates it is at the correct level (between the "low" and "full" marks).
  • Check the fluid level again after adding fluid.
4. Final Check
  • Start the engine and let it run for a minute.
  • Shift through all gears (P, R, N, D) to allow fluid to circulate.
  • Check the fluid level again and add more if necessary to maintain the correct level.
  • Remove the funnel and securely close the dipstick tube.
