Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is turned off.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety while working on the electrical components.
2. Recharge Refrigerant
  • Tools Required: AC refrigerant, manifold gauge set, safety goggles, gloves.
  • Locate the low-pressure service port on the AC system.
  • Attach the low-pressure side of the manifold gauge set to the service port.
  • Start the engine and turn on the AC to the maximum setting.
  • Slowly add refrigerant until the gauge indicates the appropriate pressure as specified in the vehicle's service manual.
  • Disconnect the manifold gauge set and replace the service port cap.
3. Inspect and Repair the Compressor
  • Tools Required: Wrench set, torque wrench, replacement compressor (if needed).
  • Visually inspect the AC compressor for any obvious signs of damage or leaks.
  • If the compressor is not engaging, check the electrical connections for corrosion or loose wires.
  • If necessary, replace the compressor:
    • Disconnect the electrical connectors and refrigerant lines.
    • Remove the compressor mounting bolts and take out the old compressor.
    • Install the new compressor and torque bolts to manufacturer specifications.
    • Reconnect the refrigerant lines and electrical connectors.
4. Replace Cabin Air Filter
  • Tools Required: Screwdriver or trim removal tool.
  • Locate the cabin air filter compartment, usually behind the glove box.
  • Remove the glove box or cover to access the filter.
  • Take out the old cabin air filter and clean the area.
  • Insert the new cabin air filter in the correct orientation and reassemble the glove box.
