Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, tire iron, socket set, torque wrench
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface, and the engine is turned off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal if working with electronic components.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use the jack to lift the vehicle at the designated lift points.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to ensure stability while working.
3. Inspect and Replace Shock Absorbers/Struts
  • Inspect the shocks/struts:
    • Remove the wheels using the tire iron.
    • Check for any visible leaks or damage to the shock absorber/strut.
  • Replacement:
    • If damaged, remove the top mounting bolts using a socket set.
    • Disconnect the lower mounting bolts and remove the shock/strut assembly.
    • Install the new shock absorber/strut in reverse order:
      • Torque the top and bottom bolts to the manufacturer’s specified torque value.
4. Check and Adjust Wheel Alignment
  • Upon reinstallation of the wheels, check the alignment:
    • Use alignment tools or take the vehicle to a professional alignment service to ensure proper wheel alignment.
5. Reinstall Tires
  • Reinstall the tires and torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications.
6. Lower the Vehicle
  • Carefully lower the vehicle back to the ground and reconnect the battery terminal.
