Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety during repairs.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is cool.
2. Refrigerant Recharge
  • Tools Required: Manifold gauge set, refrigerant canister, hose.
  • Identify the low-pressure service port on the AC system.
  • Attach the low-pressure gauge hose to the service port.
  • Open the valve on the refrigerant canister and start the engine with the AC on maximum.
  • Monitor the gauge and add refrigerant as needed until the proper level is reached (typically 30-40 PSI).
  • Disconnect the hose and recap the service port.
3. Replace AC Compressor
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, refrigerant recovery machine.
  • Locate the AC compressor and disconnect the electrical connector.
  • Remove the refrigerant from the system using a recovery machine.
  • Unbolt the AC compressor from its mounting and remove the drive belt.
  • Install the new AC compressor in reverse order, ensuring all bolts are tightened to the manufacturer’s torque specifications.
  • Reconnect the electrical connector and recharge the system with refrigerant.
4. Inspect and Replace Cabin Air Filter
  • Tools Required: None.
  • Open the glove compartment and remove any items.
  • Release the stops on the glove compartment to allow it to drop down.
  • Locate the cabin air filter compartment and remove the old filter.
  • Install a new cabin air filter, ensuring it is oriented correctly for airflow.
