Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts: socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, extension, ratchet, feeler gauge, dielectric grease, and new spark plugs.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting the replacement procedure.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Locate the engine cover bolts.
  • Use the appropriate socket to remove the bolts securing the engine cover.
  • Gently lift the engine cover off and set it aside.
3. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Identify the spark plug locations; they are typically located on top of the engine.
  • Disconnect the ignition coil connectors by pressing the release tab and pulling them off.
  • Remove the ignition coil bolts using a socket and ratchet.
  • Carefully pull out the ignition coils from the spark plug wells.
  • Use a spark plug socket to unscrew and remove the old spark plugs from the engine.
4. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Check the gap on the new spark plugs using a feeler gauge; adjust if necessary to the manufacturer's specifications.
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the threads of the new spark plugs to prevent seizing.
  • Carefully thread the new spark plugs into the cylinder head by hand to avoid cross-threading, then tighten with a spark plug socket to the specified torque (typically around 13 lb-ft).
5. Reinstall Ignition Coils
  • Place the ignition coils back into their respective positions over the new spark plugs.
  • Secure the coils with their bolts and reconnect the electrical connectors until they click into place.
6. Replace Engine Cover
  • If removed, align the engine cover back into position and secure it with the original bolts.
7. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal and ensure it is tight.
