Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug socket, ratchet, extension bar, feeler gauge, dielectric grease, shop vacuum.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical short circuits.
  • Allow the engine to cool completely before starting the work.
2. Remove Engine Cover
  • Locate and remove any screws or clips securing the engine cover (if applicable).
  • Gently lift the engine cover off and set it aside.
3. Remove Spark Plug Wires/Coils
  • If equipped, carefully disconnect the spark plug wire or ignition coil connector from each spark plug.
  • Use a socket wrench to remove the bolts securing the ignition coils (if present) and gently pull them out of the spark plug wells.
4. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to carefully unscrew each spark plug from the cylinder head.
  • Keep track of which spark plug came from which cylinder for proper installation of the new plugs.
5. Inspect and Prep New Spark Plugs
  • Check the new spark plugs for proper gap using a feeler gauge; adjust if necessary.
  • Apply a small amount of dielectric grease to the threads of each spark plug for easier future removal.
6. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Carefully thread the new spark plugs into the cylinder heads by hand to avoid cross-threading.
  • Use a torque wrench to tighten the spark plugs to the manufacturer's torque specification (typically around 13-16 lb-ft).
7. Reinstall Ignition Coils/Wires
  • Reinstall the ignition coils or spark plug wires, ensuring a secure connection.
  • If applicable, replace any screws or clips that hold the ignition coils in place.
8. Reattach Engine Cover
  • Place the engine cover back on and secure it with screws or clips.
9. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
