Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, spark plug gap tool, dielectric grease, anti-seize compound.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shock.
  • Allow the engine to cool if it has been running.
2. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
  • Tools Required: Socket set.
  • Remove any screws or bolts securing the engine cover using the appropriate socket.
  • Carefully lift the engine cover off and set it aside.
3. Remove Old Spark Plugs
  • Tools Required: Spark plug socket, ratchet, extension.
  • Locate the spark plug wires or coils and carefully disconnect them.
    • For plug wires, gently twist and pull to avoid damage.
    • For coil packs, remove the retaining screws and lift off the coil.
  • Use the spark plug socket and ratchet to unscrew the old spark plugs from the engine block.
  • Inspect the removed spark plugs for signs of wear or damage.
4. Install New Spark Plugs
  • Apply a small amount of anti-seize compound to the threads of the new spark plugs.
  • Check the gap on the new spark plugs and adjust to manufacturer specifications using the spark plug gap tool.
  • Carefully insert the new spark plugs into their respective holes and hand-tighten them to avoid cross-threading.
  • Use the torque wrench to tighten the spark plugs to the manufacturer's specified torque (typically around 13-15 lb-ft).
5. Reconnect Components
  • Reattach the spark plug wires or coil packs ensuring they click into place securely.
  • If applicable, reinstall the engine cover and secure it with the original screws or bolts.
6. Reconnect Battery
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and listen for smooth operation.
