Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Use wheel chocks to secure the vehicle.
2. Remove Wheel
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench.
  • Loosen lug nuts slightly while the vehicle is on the ground.
  • Raise the vehicle using the jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Completely remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  • Check brake pad thickness; if less than 3mm, replace them.
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench.
  • Remove the caliper bolts and carefully take off the caliper.
  • Remove the old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  • Install new brake pads, ensuring they are correctly oriented.
4. Inspect and Resurface/Replace Rotors
  • Check the rotor thickness using a micrometer; if below minimum specification or warped, replace or resurface.
  • To resurface, use a brake lathe; to replace, remove the rotor from the hub.
  • Clean the hub surface before installing the new or resurfaced rotor.
5. Reassemble and Torque
  • Place the caliper back over the new brake pads and secure it with caliper bolts.
  • Tools Required: Torque wrench.
  • Tighten caliper bolts to the manufacturer’s specified torque.
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten lug nuts.
6. Lower Vehicle and Final Check
  • Lower the vehicle off the jack stands using the jack.
  • Tighten lug nuts in a star pattern to ensure even pressure.
  • Check the brake fluid level and top off if necessary.
