Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials: OBD-II scanner, socket set, torque wrench, compression tester, spark plug socket, new spark plug, new ignition coil (if necessary), and fuel injector cleaner.
  • Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface, and the engine is cool before starting work.
2. Replace Spark Plug
  1. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable):
    • Use a socket set to remove bolts securing the engine cover.
  2. Disconnect Ignition Coil:
    • Unplug the electrical connector from the ignition coil on cylinder 1.
  3. Remove Ignition Coil:
    • Unscrew the ignition coil using the socket set and carefully pull it out.
  4. Remove Old Spark Plug:
    • Use the spark plug socket to remove the old spark plug from cylinder 1.
  5. Install New Spark Plug:
    • Apply anti-seize lubricant to the threads of the new spark plug (optional).
    • Install the new spark plug and torque it to the manufacturer’s specification (typically 13 lb-ft).
  6. Reinstall Ignition Coil:
    • Reinsert the ignition coil and secure it with screws. Reconnect the electrical connector.
3. Check Ignition Coil (if necessary)
  1. Test Ignition Coil:
    • If swapping the ignition coil with another cylinder resolves the misfire, replace the faulty ignition coil.
    • Follow the same procedure as above to remove and replace the ignition coil.
4. Fuel Injector Cleaning (if necessary)
  1. Add Fuel Injector Cleaner:
    • Add a high-quality fuel injector cleaner to the fuel tank as per the product instructions.
  2. Run Engine:
    • Start the engine and allow it to run to help clean the injectors.
