Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety during repairs.
2. Inspect and Replace Spark Plug
  1. Remove the engine cover if necessary.
  2. Locate the spark plug for cylinder 2 (check owner's manual for location).
  3. Use a spark plug socket and ratchet to remove the spark plug.
  4. Inspect the spark plug for wear; if damaged or fouled, replace it with a new one (OEM specifications).
  5. Apply dielectric grease to the new spark plug's threads before installation.
  6. Torque the new spark plug to the manufacturer's specifications (typically around 13 lb-ft).
3. Inspect and Replace Ignition Coil
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector from the ignition coil on cylinder 2.
  2. Unbolt the ignition coil using a socket and ratchet.
  3. Remove the ignition coil from the cylinder head.
  4. Install the new ignition coil (OEM specifications) and bolt it securely.
  5. Reconnect the electrical connector to the ignition coil.
4. Inspect and Replace Fuel Injector
  1. Disconnect the fuel injector connector for cylinder 2.
  2. Remove any retaining clips and bolts securing the fuel rail, if necessary.
  3. Carefully pull the fuel injector out of the fuel rail.
  4. Install the new fuel injector ensuring proper alignment and sealing.
  5. Reconnect the fuel injector connector and ensure all connections are secure.
5. Final Assembly and Testing
  1. Reinstall any components that were removed during the process (engine cover, etc.).
  2. Reconnect the battery.
  3. Start the engine and allow it to idle.
  4. Clear the codes using an OBD-II scanner and monitor for reoccurrence of the P0302 code.
