Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools: multimeter, jumper cables, and safety gloves.
  • Ensure the vehicle is in 'Park' or 'Neutral' with the parking brake engaged.
2. Jump-Start the Battery
  • Connect jumper cables as follows:
    1. Attach the red (+) cable to the positive terminal of the dead battery.
    2. Connect the other end of the red (+) cable to the positive terminal of the working battery.
    3. Attach the black (-) cable to the negative terminal of the working battery.
    4. Connect the other end of the black (-) cable to an unpainted metal surface on the dead vehicle (ground).
  • Start the working vehicle and let it run for a few minutes before attempting to start the Sierra.
3. Replace the Battery (if necessary)
  • If jump-starting fails, consider replacing the battery:
    1. Disconnect the negative terminal first, followed by the positive terminal.
    2. Remove the battery from the tray, noting the orientation for installation.
    3. Install the new battery in the same orientation.
    4. Connect the positive terminal first, followed by the negative terminal.
    5. Ensure both terminals are tight and free of corrosion.
