Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface.
  • Allow the engine to cool if it has been running.
2. Add Transmission Fluid
  • Tools Required: Funnel, clean rag
  • Locate the transmission dipstick or filler cap.
  • Remove the dipstick or filler cap and wipe it clean with a rag.
  • Using a funnel, add the appropriate type of transmission fluid (consult owner’s manual for specifications).
  • Check the fluid level again after adding fluid.
3. Repair Leaks
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, replacement gaskets or seals
  • Identify the source of any leaks found during diagnostics.
  • If the leak is from the transmission pan, remove the bolts and carefully take off the pan.
  • Replace the gasket and reattach the pan, torquing to specification.
  • If the leak is from cooler lines, replace the lines as necessary.
4. Flush and Replace Fluid (if needed)
  • Tools Required: Transmission fluid pump, drain pan
  • Connect a fluid pump to the transmission cooler line.
  • Drain the old fluid into a pan and measure the amount removed.
  • Refill with the same amount of new transmission fluid through the dipstick tube.
  • Start the engine and cycle through the gears, checking fluid levels and adding as necessary.
