Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shock.
2. Check and Replace Power Steering Fluid
  • Tools Required: Fluid pump, funnel, clean rags, power steering fluid (as specified in the owner's manual).
  • Remove the power steering fluid reservoir cap.
  • Using a fluid pump, extract any old fluid from the reservoir.
  • Inspect the fluid condition; if it is dark or contaminated, proceed to replace it.
  • Refill the reservoir with fresh power steering fluid.
  • Replace the cap securely.
3. Inspect and Repair Power Steering Pump
  • Tools Required: Socket set, wrench set, torque wrench.
  • Locate the power steering pump; check for any visible leaks or damage.
  • If leaks are found, replace the power steering pump.
    • Disconnect the power steering lines and electrical connector.
    • Remove the mounting bolts.
    • Install the new pump and torque the bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
    • Reconnect the power steering lines and electrical connector.
4. Bleed the Power Steering System
  • Tools Required: Clean rags, funnel.
  • With the engine off, fill the power steering reservoir to the proper level.
  • Start the engine and turn the steering wheel from lock to lock several times to purge air from the system.
  • Check the fluid level again and add more fluid if necessary.
