Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, screwdrivers, throttle body cleaner, clean rags, safety glasses, gloves.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical shorts.
  • Ensure the engine is cool before starting the cleaning process.
2. Remove Air Intake Duct
  • Remove the screws or clamps securing the air intake duct to the throttle body.
  • Carefully detach the air intake duct from the throttle body, taking care not to damage any sensors.
3. Remove Throttle Body
  • Disconnect any electrical connectors attached to the throttle body.
  • Remove the mounting bolts securing the throttle body to the intake manifold using a socket.
  • Carefully lift the throttle body away from the intake manifold, ensuring the gasket remains intact or is replaced if damaged.
4. Clean Throttle Body
  • Spray throttle body cleaner into the throttle body opening.
  • Use a clean rag or a soft brush to scrub the inside of the throttle body, focusing on the throttle plate and surrounding areas.
  • Wipe away any residue and ensure the area is clean and free of debris.
5. Reinstall Throttle Body
  • Place a new gasket (if applicable) onto the intake manifold surface.
  • Position the throttle body back onto the intake manifold and secure it with the mounting bolts, tightening to the manufacturer’s specified torque (typically around 89 inch-pounds).
  • Reconnect electrical connectors to the throttle body.
6. Reattach Air Intake Duct
  • Reattach the air intake duct to the throttle body, securing it with screws or clamps.
  • Ensure that all connections are tight and that there are no loose fittings.
7. Final Checks
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Start the engine and let it idle for a few minutes to allow the throttle body to recalibrate.
