Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required:
    • Socket set
    • Screwdriver set
    • Drain pan
    • Funnel
    • Hose clamp pliers
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Allow the engine to cool completely before starting.
    • Wear gloves and safety glasses to protect against coolant exposure.
2. Drain the Old Coolant
  1. Locate the radiator drain valve at the bottom of the radiator.
  2. Place a drain pan underneath the radiator.
  3. Open the drain valve and allow the old coolant to fully drain into the pan.
  4. Once drained, close the valve securely.
3. Flush the System
  1. Remove the upper radiator hose from the radiator.
  2. Using a hose, insert it into the radiator neck and flush with water until clear water runs out of the drain valve.
  3. Optionally, you can add a cooling system flush solution to the water for better cleaning.
  4. Let the mixture circulate for about 10-15 minutes (if using a flush solution).
  5. Drain the flushing solution through the drain valve.
4. Refill the Cooling System
  1. Close the drain valve once all the flushing solution is drained.
  2. Reconnect the upper radiator hose to the radiator.
  3. Use a funnel to pour the new coolant into the radiator. Ensure you use the manufacturer-recommended coolant type.
  4. Fill the coolant reservoir to the proper level.
5. Bleed the Cooling System
  1. Start the engine and let it idle with the radiator cap off.
  2. Allow the engine to reach operating temperature until the thermostat opens (the upper radiator hose will get warm).
  3. Add more coolant as necessary to maintain the proper level.
  4. Turn off the engine and let it cool. Reinstall the radiator cap.
