Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts required for the repair.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety.
  • Allow the engine to cool down if it has been running.
2. Replace Spark Plugs
  1. Remove Engine Cover (if applicable)
    • Use a socket set to remove any bolts securing the cover.
  2. Remove Spark Plug Wires
    • Gently pull off the spark plug wires, labeling them for reinstallation.
  3. Remove Old Spark Plugs
    • Use a spark plug socket to unscrew the old spark plugs from the engine.
  4. Install New Spark Plugs
    • Apply anti-seize compound on the threads of new spark plugs.
    • Torque to specifications (typically around 13-15 lb-ft).
  5. Reattach Spark Plug Wires
    • Ensure each wire is connected to the correct spark plug.
3. Clean Throttle Body
  1. Remove Air Intake Hose
    • Loosen clamps and remove the hose connected to the throttle body.
  2. Access Throttle Body
    • Remove any bolts securing the throttle body using a socket set.
  3. Clean Throttle Body
    • Use throttle body cleaner and a soft cloth to clean the inside of the throttle body.
  4. Reinstall Throttle Body
    • Torque bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications and reattach the air intake hose.
4. Replace Air Filter
  1. Locate Air Filter Housing
    • Open the air filter housing by unclipping or unscrewing it.
  2. Remove Old Air Filter
    • Take out the old air filter and inspect the housing for debris.
  3. Install New Air Filter
    • Place the new air filter into the housing and secure it properly.
5. Check Fuel System
  1. Test Fuel Pressure
    • Connect a fuel pressure gauge to the Schrader valve on the fuel rail.
    • Turn the ignition to the ON position (do not start the engine) and check the reading.
  2. Replace Fuel Filter (if necessary)
    • If the fuel pressure is low, consider replacing the fuel filter as per service manual instructions.
