Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, wheel chocks, socket set, torque wrench, strut spring compressor, and safety glasses.
  • Safely park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Place wheel chocks behind the rear wheels for added safety.
  • Disconnect the battery if the vehicle has electronic suspension components.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which strut is leaking.
  • Place jack stands under the vehicle to secure it and ensure stability.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel to access the strut assembly.
4. Remove the Strut
  • Detach the strut from the steering knuckle:
    • Remove the bolts securing the strut to the knuckle using a socket set.
  • Unbolt the strut from the chassis:
    • Locate and remove the upper strut mount bolts inside the engine bay or trunk.
  • Carefully pull the strut out of its housing.
5. Replace the Strut
  • Using a strut spring compressor, compress the spring:
    • Ensure the spring is securely compressed before removing the strut assembly.
  • Remove the top mount and spring from the old strut.
  • Install the spring and top mount onto the new strut.
  • Ensure all components are correctly aligned and torqued to specifications.
6. Reinstall the Strut
  • Position the new strut into place and secure it to the steering knuckle and chassis with the bolts removed earlier.
  • Torque all bolts to the manufacturer’s specifications.
7. Reassemble the Wheel
  • Reattach the wheel and secure it with the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle to the ground and torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
