  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the rear of the vehicle.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands to ensure safety.
3. Remove the Driveshaft
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, and universal joint puller.
  • Remove the bolts securing the driveshaft to the differential and the transmission.
  • Carefully slide the driveshaft out of the transmission or differential while noting the orientation for reinstallation.
4. Inspect and Replace U-joint
  • Tools Required: U-joint removal tool, hammer, and sockets.
  • Inspect the U-joint for wear or damage. If damaged, proceed to replace.
  • Use the U-joint removal tool to press out the old U-joint from the driveshaft and yoke.
  • Clean the yoke and apply grease to the new U-joint.
  • Press the new U-joint into place, ensuring it is seated properly.
5. Reinstall the Driveshaft
  • Align the driveshaft according to the orientation noted during removal.
  • Secure the driveshaft with the bolts, tightening them to the manufacturer's specifications using a torque wrench.
6. Lower the Vehicle and Test Drive
  • Remove jack stands and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
