Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and materials required for checking the fluid level.
  • Tools Required:
    • Lint-free cloth
  • Safety Warnings:
    • Ensure the engine is idling and the vehicle is on a level surface.
2. Check Fluid Level
  • Remove Dipstick: Pull the dipstick out of the transmission tube.
  • Inspect Fluid: Wipe the dipstick clean with a lint-free cloth. Check the fluid color and consistency. It should be a clear red or pink color and should not have a burnt smell.
  • Reinsert and Check Level: Reinsert the dipstick fully, then remove it again to check the fluid level against the "Full" and "Add" marks.
3. Add Transmission Fluid (if necessary)
  • Select Correct Fluid: Use GM-approved transmission fluid (e.g., Dexron VI).
  • Add Fluid: Using a funnel, add the appropriate amount of transmission fluid if the level is below the "Add" mark.
  • Recheck Level: After adding fluid, wait a moment and recheck the fluid level with the dipstick.
4. Secure Dipstick
  • Reinsert Dipstick: Once the correct fluid level is achieved, securely reinsert the dipstick in the tube.
  • Close Hood: Ensure the hood is closed properly after completing the fluid check and any necessary additions.
