Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack, jack stands, lug wrench, socket set, torque wrench, strut spring compressor.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent electrical issues during the repair.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use the jack to lift the vehicle and securely place jack stands under the frame.
  • Remove the front or rear wheels using a lug wrench.
3. Remove the Strut Assembly
  • Locate the strut mounting bolts at the top and bottom of the strut.
  • Use a socket set to remove the top mounting bolts from the strut tower.
  • Remove the lower strut bolts, ensuring to support the lower control arm as needed.
  • Carefully remove the strut assembly from the vehicle.
4. Replace Strut Components
  • If the strut is leaking, it should be replaced. Use a strut spring compressor to safely remove the coil spring from the old strut.
  • Install the coil spring onto the new strut following the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Ensure all components are correctly aligned and torqued to specifications (check service manual for torque values).
5. Reinstall the Strut Assembly
  • Position the new strut assembly back into place in the vehicle.
  • Tighten the lower and upper mounting bolts to the specified torque.
  • Reinstall the wheels and lower the vehicle back to the ground.
6. Final Check
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
  • Perform a visual inspection to ensure all components are secured.
