Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety glasses and gloves.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the vehicle.
  • Secure the vehicle on jack stands for safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
4. Inspect and Remove the Shock/Strut Assembly
  • Inspection: Check for oil leakage and physical damage.
  • Removal:
    1. Disconnect the sway bar link from the strut (if applicable) using a wrench.
    2. Remove the bolts securing the strut to the steering knuckle using a socket set.
    3. Remove the top mounting bolts of the strut from the engine bay using a socket.
    4. Carefully extract the strut assembly from the vehicle.
5. Replace the Shock/Strut
  • Installation:
    1. If replacing, install the new shock/strut assembly by reversing the removal steps.
    2. Ensure all bolts are tightened to the manufacturer’s specified torque settings (usually found in the service manual).
    3. Reconnect the sway bar link.
6. Reinstall the Wheel and Lower the Vehicle
  • Place the wheel back on and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle off the jack stands using the hydraulic jack.
  • Tighten the lug nuts to the manufacturer’s specified torque.
