Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repairs.
  • Disconnect the battery to ensure safety during electrical repairs.
  • Allow the engine to cool down if it has been running.
2. Clean or Replace Air Filter
  • Tools Required: Flathead screwdriver, replacement air filter (if necessary).
  • Remove the air filter housing cover using a screwdriver.
  • Take out the air filter and inspect it for dirt and debris.
  • Clean the air filter if reusable, or replace it with a new one.
  • Reinstall the air filter and secure the housing cover.
3. Inspect and Replace Spark Plugs
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, replacement spark plugs.
  • Locate the spark plug wires or ignition coils and carefully remove them.
  • Use a socket to unscrew the spark plugs from the engine.
  • Inspect the spark plugs for wear; replace if necessary.
  • Install new spark plugs, ensuring they are torqued to the manufacturer’s specification (typically around 13-15 lb-ft).
  • Reconnect the ignition coils or spark plug wires.
4. Clean Throttle Body
  • Tools Required: Throttle body cleaner, soft cloth, screwdriver.
  • Disconnect the throttle body electrical connector.
  • Remove the throttle body from the intake manifold (if needed).
  • Spray throttle body cleaner onto a soft cloth and wipe the inside of the throttle body to remove carbon deposits.
  • Reinstall the throttle body and reconnect the electrical connector.
5. Test Mass Air Flow Sensor (if needed)
  • Tools Required: Multimeter.
  • Disconnect the MAF sensor connector and remove the sensor from the intake.
  • Check the sensor's voltage output with a multimeter according to the service manual specifications.
  • Clean the MAF sensor with MAF cleaner if it is dirty; replace if it is faulty.
