Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
  • Wear safety goggles and gloves for protection.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the vehicle and secure it on jack stands.
  • Remove the wheels to access the struts.
3. Remove the Strut Assembly
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, strut spring compressor
  • Disconnect the sway bar link from the strut if applicable.
  • Remove the top strut mounting nuts from the engine bay using the socket set.
  • Unbolt the lower strut mounting bolts from the knuckle.
  • Carefully detach the strut assembly from the vehicle.
4. Replace Strut Components
  • Tools Required: Strut spring compressor
  • Use the strut spring compressor to safely compress the spring on the old strut.
  • Remove the upper strut mount and spring from the old strut.
  • Install the spring and upper strut mount onto the new strut.
  • Ensure the strut is assembled according to manufacturer specifications.
5. Install New Strut Assembly
  • Reinstall the strut assembly in reverse order of removal.
  • Secure the lower strut mounting bolts and torque them to manufacturer specifications.
  • Tighten the top strut nuts, ensuring they are also torqued properly.
6. Reattach Wheels and Lower the Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheels and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle back to the ground and torque the lug nuts to the correct specification.
7. Final Checks
  • Inspect all connections for tightness.
  • Recheck the alignment of the front wheels after strut replacement.
