Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather all tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface, and engage the parking brake.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent accidental electrical shorts.
2. Lift the Vehicle
  • Use a hydraulic jack to lift the vehicle at the designated lift points.
  • Secure the vehicle with jack stands for safety.
  • Remove the rear or front wheels (depending on which strut is being replaced) using a socket set.
3. Remove the Strut
  • Front Strut:

    1. Remove the lower strut mounting bolts using a socket and ratchet.
    2. Detach any brake lines or sway bar links connected to the strut.
    3. Remove the upper strut mount nuts from the strut tower under the hood.
    4. Carefully pull the strut assembly out of the wheel well.
  • Rear Strut:

    1. Remove the lower mounting bolts with a socket set.
    2. Detach any components connected to the strut, such as brake lines or stabilizer links.
    3. Remove the upper mount nuts from inside the trunk or under the rear seat.
    4. Extract the strut from its mounting location.
4. Install New Strut
  1. Position the new strut in place.
  2. For front struts, insert the strut through the top mount and secure it with the nuts. Torque to manufacturer specifications.
  3. Attach the lower mounting bolts and torque to specifications.
  4. Reconnect any brake lines or sway bar links that were removed.
5. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  • Reinstall the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  • Lower the vehicle and then torque the lug nuts to the specified value.
  • Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
