Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather necessary tools and parts.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the engine is off and cool.
  • Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
2. Check and Top Off Engine Oil
  1. Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean.
  2. Reinsert the dipstick and pull it out to check the oil level.
  3. If the oil level is low, add the correct type of engine oil as specified in the owner’s manual.
  4. Recheck the oil level after adding oil.
3. Replace Oil Filter (if necessary)
  1. Place an oil catch pan beneath the oil filter.
  2. Use an oil filter wrench to remove the old oil filter.
  3. Apply a little engine oil to the gasket of the new filter.
  4. Install the new oil filter, hand-tightening it securely.
  5. Dispose of the old filter properly.
4. Test and Replace Oil Pressure Sending Unit (if faulty)
  1. Locate the oil pressure sending unit (usually near the oil filter).
  2. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sending unit.
  3. Use a socket to remove the sending unit from the engine block.
  4. Install the new sending unit and reconnect the electrical connector.
5. Test Oil Pressure
  1. Install a mechanical oil pressure gauge in place of the sending unit.
  2. Start the engine and observe the oil pressure reading.
  3. If the pressure is low, determine if the oil pump is functioning properly and replace it if necessary.
6. Reassemble and Reconnect Battery
  1. Reinstall any components removed for access.
  2. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
