Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack stands, lug wrench, brake cleaner, torque wrench.
  • Safety Warnings: Ensure the vehicle is on a flat surface and securely lifted with jack stands. Always wear safety goggles.
2. Remove Wheel
  1. Loosen the lug nuts using a lug wrench.
  2. Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  3. Remove the lug nuts completely and take off the wheel to access the brake components.
3. Inspect and Replace Brake Pads
  1. Examine the thickness of the brake pads. If less than 3mm, replace them.
  2. If replacement is necessary, remove the caliper bolts using a socket set.
  3. Slide the caliper off and support it with a bungee cord to avoid straining the brake line.
  4. Remove old brake pads from the caliper bracket.
  5. Apply brake grease to the back of the new pads and install them into the bracket.
  6. Reattach the caliper over the new pads and tighten the caliper bolts to manufacturer specifications.
4. Inspect and Resurface/Replace Brake Rotors
  1. Check the rotors for any signs of damage or scoring.
  2. If the rotors are warped or excessively worn, remove them by unscrewing the rotor retaining screws and sliding them off the hub.
  3. If they are within specifications, clean the rotors thoroughly with brake cleaner.
  4. If replacement is needed, install new rotors and secure them with retaining screws.
5. Reassemble and Lower Vehicle
  1. Reattach the wheel and hand-tighten the lug nuts.
  2. Lower the vehicle to the ground and then torque the lug nuts to the manufacturer's specifications.
