Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, jack stands, floor jack, strut spring compressor, pry bar, impact wrench.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a level surface and the ignition is off.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent any electrical issues during the repair.
2. Raise the Vehicle
  • Use a floor jack to lift the front or rear of the vehicle, depending on which struts are being replaced.
  • Place jack stands under the vehicle for safety.
3. Remove the Wheel
  • Use a socket set to remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel to access the strut assembly.
4. Remove the Strut Assembly
  • 4.1 Detach the Lower Strut Mount:

    • Use an impact wrench to remove the bolts securing the lower strut to the control arm.
  • 4.2 Detach the Upper Strut Mount:

    • Open the hood and locate the upper strut mount.
    • Remove the nuts securing the upper strut mount using the appropriate socket size.
  • 4.3 Remove the Strut:

    • Carefully pull the strut assembly down and out from the vehicle.
5. Replace the Strut
  • 5.1 Compress the Spring:

    • Use a strut spring compressor to safely compress the spring on the old strut assembly.
  • 5.2 Remove the Old Strut:

    • With the spring compressed, remove the nut at the top of the strut to separate the strut from the spring.
  • 5.3 Install New Strut:

    • Place the new strut in position and secure it with the previously removed nut.
  • 5.4 Reassemble Spring and Strut:

    • Carefully decompress the spring while ensuring it is seated properly on the new strut.
6. Reinstall the Strut Assembly
  • 6.1 Install Upper Strut Mount:

    • Position the strut assembly back into place and secure the upper mount with new nuts, torquing to manufacturer specifications.
  • 6.2 Attach Lower Strut Mount:

    • Align the strut with the lower control arm and secure it with the lower bolts, torquing to manufacturer specifications.
7. Reattach Wheel and Lower Vehicle
  • Place the wheel back on the hub, hand-tighten the lug nuts, and lower the vehicle from jack stands.
  • Torque the lug nuts to manufacturer specifications.
