Solution
1. Preparation
  • Gather tools and parts needed for the repair.
  • Ensure the vehicle is parked on a flat surface and the engine is cool.
  • Disconnect the battery to prevent electrical shorts.
2. Inspect and Replace the ECT Sensor
  • Tools Required: Socket set, torque wrench, pliers
  • Locate the ECT sensor on the engine (usually near the thermostat housing).
  • Disconnect the electrical connector from the ECT sensor.
  • Remove the sensor using a socket and replace it with a new one.
  • Torque the new sensor to the manufacturer’s specifications (usually around 15-20 ft-lbs).
  • Reconnect the electrical connector.
3. Clean the Throttle Body
  • Tools Required: Throttle body cleaner, shop towels, screwdriver
  • Remove the intake hose connected to the throttle body.
  • Spray throttle body cleaner inside the throttle body while opening the throttle plate.
  • Wipe away any carbon buildup with a shop towel.
  • Reattach the intake hose securely.
4. Check and Adjust Fuel Pressure
  • Tools Required: Fuel pressure gauge
  • Locate the fuel rail on the engine.
  • Connect the fuel pressure gauge to the test port on the fuel rail.
  • Turn the ignition to the "On" position (do not start the engine) and check the fuel pressure.
  • If pressure is below the manufacturer’s specification, consider replacing the fuel pump or filter.
