Solution
1. Preparation
  • Tools Required: Jack stands, lug wrench, safety glasses, gloves, socket set, torque wrench.
  • Lift the vehicle using a jack and secure it with jack stands.
  • Remove the wheel using a lug wrench.
2. Remove Brake Components
  • Brake Pads and Rotors:
    1. Remove the caliper bolts using a socket set.
    2. Carefully slide the caliper off the rotor and secure it to the suspension using a bungee cord (do not let it hang from the brake line).
    3. Take off the old brake pads by sliding them out from the caliper bracket.
    4. Remove the rotor by unscrewing the retaining screws (if equipped) and pulling it off the hub.
3. Inspect and Replace
  • Brake Pads:

    1. Check the thickness of the brake pads. Replace if worn below 3mm.
    2. Apply brake grease to the backing of the new pads to prevent squeaking.
  • Brake Rotors:

    1. Inspect the rotors for any visible damage or grooves; replace if needed.
    2. If the rotors are within specifications, they can be resurfaced instead of replaced.
4. Reassemble Braking Components
  1. Install the new or resurfaced rotor onto the hub.
  2. Slide the new brake pads into the caliper bracket.
  3. Position the caliper back over the brake pads and rotor.
  4. Reinstall the caliper bolts and tighten to manufacturer's specifications using a torque wrench.
5. Final Checks
  1. Reinstall the wheel and lower the vehicle.
  2. Tighten lug nuts in a star pattern to ensure even pressure.
  3. Check brake fluid level and top off if necessary.
